    A Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court will continue hearing today the cases related to rift in Shiv Sena.

    A bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud will hear the matter. Justices MR Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and PS Narasimha are the other members of the bench.

    The bench started hearing the matter on merits from February 21. On February 16, it had decided to defer a decision on the preliminary issue of larger bench reference by choosing to determine it along with the merits of the case.

    Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal completed his submissions for the Uddhav side over three days. Senior Advocate Dr.Abhishek Manu Singhvi commenced his arguments for Uddhav side on February 23. Reports of the previous hearings can be read here, here, here, here, herehere, here and here.

      Kaul: On 22nd June, a notice is given by minority faction to attend an emergency meeting at 5 pm. It says that if you fail to attend, it will deem to say that you are voluntarily giving up the membership.

      Kaul: A notice was also sent by majority faction, that is the Shinde faction, for removal of deputy speaker. This notice was issued on behalf of 34 MLAs of Shivsena legislative party.

      Kaul: They removed Mr Shinde as the leader and appointed Mr Ajay as the leader of legislative party. It also recognised as Mr Prabhu being appointed as a whip previously.

      Kaul: It says that MLAs are facing a lot of humiliation due to this. On the same day, minority faction within the party, which was then 24, now it is less than 14- they pass the following resolutions -

      Kaul: A resolution is passed which provided that there is enormous discontent amongst the cadres of the party for forming coalition with NCP and INC who had different ideology than Shivsena.

      Kaul: On 21st June 2022, first meeting of majority of Shinde faction of 34 MLAs takes place. 34 MLAs were present. Gogawale was appointed as chief Whip and Mr Prabhu's appointment as whip was cancelled.
