    The Supreme Court will hear today the petitions seeking to cancel the NEET UG 24 exam for paper leak and other malpractices.

    A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear the matters at 10.30 AM.

    On the previous date (July 18), the Court directed the NTA to publish the centre-wise results, to ascertain if there is any abnormal spike in performance in centres, especially the centres where paper leak is suspected.

    The bench also indicated that it is likely to conclude the matter today

      CJI to Hooda : You have pointed out issues like no clarity on when the OMR sheets are sealed, time gap between the exam and the deposit of OMR sheets, lack of address verification..

      CJI : Also Mr.Hooda, in many professional exams, students do choose some centres. Because there is a perception that the marking is lenient in those centres. That may not be a ground to cancel the entire exam.

      Hooda : As regards paper leak, the direct evidence is before the Court. Since petitioners is not privy to the investigation, we can fall back only on the circumstantial evidence.

      SG : What we have analysed, we have examined how many students appeared in previous years. In fact, for 2024, the success rate for Sikar has gone down.

      Hooda : Why did the girl in Gujarat, who got high NEET marks but failed in class 12, go all the way to a centre in Belagavi?

      Hooda : In places like Sikar, Mahendragarh, where the concentration is happening, the OMR sheets are being manipulated. The private invigilators have OMR sheets after 5.20. What prevents them from filling up the sheets and depositing it at City Centres after 3 hours?
