    The Supreme Court will hear today the petitions seeking to cancel the NEET UG 24 exam for paper leak and other malpractices.

    A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear the matters at 10.30 AM.

    On the previous date (July 18), the Court directed the NTA to publish the centre-wise results, to ascertain if there is any abnormal spike in performance in centres, especially the centres where paper leak is suspected.

    The bench also indicated that it is likely to conclude the matter today

      CJI : Students are expected to follow new or old NCERT editions.

      SG : New edition.

      CJI : By giving marks to option 2, you are going against your own rule that old edition can't be followed.

      Counsel : Statement 2 says "Atoms of each elements are stable and emit their characteristic spectrum".

      As per old NCERT, it says Atoms of each elements. But new NCERT says, atmos of "most" elements. Both options can't be correct.

      CJI : Why did NTA eventually come to the conclusion to give marks to both options?

      SG : Because both were possible answers.

      Counsel : It is not possible.

      CJI : Possible answer to the argument that if you don't know the answer, then the assumption is that you don't know the answer.

      CJI : Her alternate argument is that don't give any marks, but give full marks only to those who selected option 4. But by giving marks to those who answered even option 2, you are increasing the number of toppers, her argument.

      CJI : Mr.Solicitor, this is a powerful argument. The instructions are that go by the latest NCERT edition. Option 4 is the correct answer as per the latest NCERT edition. Then those who answered option 2 cannot be given full marks. There, I think they may have a point.
