Plea To Cancel NEET-UG 24 : Paper Leak Happened Before May 4th, Says CJI; Live Updates From Supreme Court [July 22]

Bench dictates order : One of the questions of the NEET-UG 24 exam read as follows. As indicated in the question as framed of which students had to select one option as their answer. In order to resolve the issue as regards the correct answer, we are of the considered view that an expert opinion should be sought from IIT Delhi. We request the Director of IIT Delhi to constitute a team of three experts of the subject concerned. The expert team constituted by the Director is requested to formulate the opinion on the correct option and remit the opinion to the Registrar by 12 noon tomorrow. Registrar General is requested to communicate the order to the IIT Delhi Director so that expeditious steps for the preparation of the opinion can be taken.

CJI : As regards question 19, we can appoint an expert body and ask them to give the correct option, possibly by tomorrow

SG : Allow me to respond tomorrow morning.

Sr Adv Mukta Gupta submits the grievance of a petitioner, who is suffering from hyper-sweating problem and was not allowed to take a handkarchief. Because of excessive sweating, the candidate could not properly attend the exam, and seeks a re-test.

Bench hears petitioners who are opposing re-neet, counsel submits that re-test will cause immense hardship and will delay the timeline for admissions.

CJI asks the remaining lawyers, who are arguing for a re-test, to send written submissions by email.

Another counsel raises the issue that students in some centres in Meghalaya were not given grace marks or given re-test option though they suffered loss of time.

Bench asks SG to take instructions on this.

CJI : What is worrying us is that, over 4 lakh students have got the benefit of what you have done.

Counsel : The provisional answer key gave the correct answer. But later they changed and decided to give marks for option 2 as well.

CJI : You could not have treated both as correct answers. You have to choose either option. Both can't co-exist.
