The Supreme Court will hear today at 2 PM the suo motu case taken over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Kolkata.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra will hear the matter.

Previously, the Court had pursued the status report filed by the CBI and said that it had disturbing details about certain lapses by the Kolkata police. The Court had also urged the protesting doctors in West Bengal to resume their duties. The Court also took exception to an advisory issued by the West Bengal Government to avoid night duty for women doctors, saying that equal work opportunities can't be denied to women under the guise of protection.
