Sibal : Till which date does post poll violence continue. If CM took oath in May and you’ve an incident in July, will that be post poll violence?

    • 28 Sep 2021 6:58 AM GMT

Sibal :  Naturally till the May 5, when the CM took over. The responsibility of law and order is through the EC. Police is under the direct control of ECI.

Sibal : The election results were declared on May 2. The Chief Minister took office on May 5. Your Lordships will have to decide what do you mean by post poll violence.

Justice Saran : This is a question which is important. Till when is the control of EC there?

Sibal : These are broad submissions I wish to make. These kind of proceedings have not been seen anywhere before what happened in Calcutta High Court.
