The Supreme Court today (September 17) while hearing the Suo Motu RG Kar Case, expressed displeasure at an application seeking resignation of the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee.

The bench led by CJI  DY Chandrachud comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was in the middle of arguments by the counsels for State of West Bengal, Union and other intervenors, when a counsel interjected to raise the plea for Chief Minister's resignation.

The CJI reverted to this saying " This is not a political forum, you are a member of the bar, we don't require your affirmation to what we say. What you say has to abide by the rules of legal discipline. We are not here to see what you feel about a particular political functionary or the other, that is not out concern. We are specifically dealing with the grievances of doctors. If you ask me to direct that the Chief Minister should resign that is not part of the Court's remit"

When the counsel continued arguing, the CJI warned him of having to remove him from court

" Look I am sorry, you please listen to me, otherwise I will have you removed from the court!"  CJI said.
