After 150 Supreme Court Registry Officials, Staff Test Positive SCBA Urges Lawyers To Avoid Going To Court

Taking into consideration the fact that atleast 150 Registry officials and staff members have tested positive for CoVID, the SCBA has urged the lawyers to not enter the high security zone of the Supreme Court.
The message by SCBA's Secretary Ardhendumauli Kumar Prasad to its members further said that although there is no circular as of now barring lawyer's entry into the high security zone using Proximity Card however it would be advisable to not enter the same until absolutely necessary.
"I have spoken with the Registry Officials on the issue of entry of lawyers through token/ pass system in the High Security Zone and registry. They have not issued any such circular as of now and therefore entry through Proximity Card will continue. I have assured that we will be self regulating and will take all the necessary precautionary measures to avoid spread of COVID-19 virus. However, as we all know that more than 150 staff of the Supreme Court registry have been found Covid Positive, I earnestly request all of you to avoid entering the high security zone until very urgent as it may lead to stricter measures," the message says.
The message also said that the registry would issue helpline numbers by January 10, 2022 for communication in relation to any query.
"I have been informed that helpline numbers will be issued by the registry by tomorrow for communication in relation to any query. It has been assured that the calls would be attended by the staff of the registry so that no inconvenience is caused to our members SCBA EC prays for your good health and requests you to follow the Covid guidelines," message further said.
Furthermore, according to a circular dated January 6, 2022, all the matters from January 10, 2022 would be heard in virtual mode and the Benches will sit at the Residential Offices.
Also, only extremely urgent 'mentioned' matters, fresh matters, bail matters, matters involving stay, detention matters and fixed date matters would be listed before the Top Court from January 10, 2022 till further orders.
The circular had also stated that till further orders transfer petitions and applications for exemption from surrendering would will also be listed before the Regular Benches.
