The Supreme Court on Wednesday (March 13) dismissed the curative petitions filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia seeking bail in the Delhi liquor policy scam case.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai and SVN Bhatti dismissed the curative petitions observing that no case is made out.
"In our opinion, no case is made out within the parameters indicated in the decision of this Court in Rupa Ashok Hurra vs Ashok Hurra," the bench observed.
The curative pleas sought bail for Sisodia in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam, where he faces charges registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
On October 30 of the previous year, a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti had dismissed Manish Sisodia's petitions seeking bail in the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi liquor policy scam. While denying bail, the bench stated that Sisodia will be entitled to apply for fresh bail if the trial does not progress in three months. On December 13, the same bench dismissed the review petitions as well. The curative petitions were filed against the dismissal of the review petitions.
Recently, the trial court had deferred the hearing of Sisodia's fresh bail applications citing the pendency of the curative petitions in the Supreme Court. On February 25, he completed one year of incarceration.
