    The Supreme Court has reconstituted its Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee through its office order dated May 31. Clause 4(2) of the Gender Sensitisation & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Regulations, 2013, confers power on the Chief Justice of India to constitute this committee with not more than thirteen members. In total, the present committee consists of eleven members and one chairperson.

    Justice Hima Kohli has been nominated as a chairperson, and Justice B.V. Nagarathna is one of the members. Further, Additional Registrar Dr. Sukhda Pritam, is the member-secretary.

    Clause 4(2)(b) requires two advocates with twenty years of Supreme Court Bar Association Membership to be appointed as members. For this purpose, Meenakshi Arora and Mahalakshmi Pavani, Senior Advocates and Senior Members of the Supreme Court Bar Association, have been appointed.

    Advocate and Representative of the Supreme Court Bar Association, as stipulated under Clause 4(2)(c), Soumyajit Pani has also been appointed as a member. Also, Advocate-on-Record Anindita Pujari, representative of the Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record Association (Clause 4(2)(d)) has been appointed. Advocate Madhu Chauhan, Representative of the Supreme Court Bar Clerks Association, has been appointed as per clause 4(2)(e).

    The nominee of CJI under Clause 4(2)(f) is Shruti Pandey, Professor of Legal Practice, Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University. This provision gives CJI the power to appoint outside members who are associated with the social welfare department or another similar field. 

    The other three nominees of the CJI under Clause 4 (2)(h) are Senior Advocates Jaideep Gupta and Menaka Guruswamy and Dr. Leni Chaudhuri, Executive Director, University of Chicago Centre in India Pvt. Ltd.
