      The Supreme Court on Wednesday took note of the Central government notification elevating Gujarat High Court Justice Akil Kureshi as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.

      Disposing off a petition by the Gujarat High Court Advocates Association in the same behalf, the bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, however, left alive the question of whether there should be a definite time schedule to be followed by the government in effecting collegium recommendations.

      The Supreme Court will pronounce judgments in Review Petitions filed in Rafale and Sabarimala cases tomorrow.

      The Constitution Bench comprising of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices RF Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra will be delivering the judgment in Sabarimala Review Petitions at 10.30 am tomorrow. The three judge bench comprising of CJI Gogoi, Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and KM Joseph will be pronouncing judgment in Rafale Review after this.

      The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a plea filed by former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda challenging his disqualification by the Election Commission in 2017 for not submitting poll expenses.

      A bench headed by CJI designate Justice S A Bobde took note of the submission that Koda's petition needed an urgent hearing in view of the fact that the last date for filing nomination for the upcoming Assembly polls was concluding on November 18.

      "List this petition for hearing before appropriate bench on Friday," the bench said.
