Supreme Court Allows Karnataka Examination Authority To Extend Last Date For Admission To Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture & Other Courses Till December 31, 2021

The Supreme Court recently allowed the Karnataka Examination Authority to extend the last date for admission to Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture and other courses till December 31, 2021.

The bench of Justices LN Rao, BR Gavai and BV Nagarathna was considering an application filed by the Karnataka Examination Authority, a society under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka which is responsible for conducting Entrance Examination for admission to professional courses viz. Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture and other courses in the State.

In the application, the Karnataka Examination Authority had sought relief for extending the last date for completion of the counselling and admission for the Academic Year 2021-2022 till December 31, 2021.

Advocate Nikhil Goel appeared for Karnataka Examination Authority and Advocate Harish Pandey appeared for AICTE.

While allowing the relief, the bench in its order observed, "We have not expressed any view on the relief sought by the applicant about being permitted for a mop up round after the completion of the counselling for the MBBS course. This order shall not be treated as a precedent."
