The President of the National Consumer Dispute Resolution Commission (NCDRC) Justice AP Sahi today (July 23) informed the Supreme Court that the obstacles in efficient e-filling at the consumer fora remained unresolved by National Informatics Centre (NIC).

The bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was hearing a petition seeking efficient E-filing facilities at the NCDRC and State Commissions. The Court had on the last occasion requested Justice Sahi to assist the Court through online presence today.

Justice Sahi, while appearing online, informed the Court that complexities are arising concerning the e-filing portals. Taking note of the same, CJI directed a meeting between NIC officials, the NCDRC President, and a Supreme Court member.

The Court in its order asked the Director General of NIC to send representatives to meet with the NCDRC President. It also specified that the meeting would be accompanied by a Supreme Court member to help develop effective solutions

The meeting is scheduled for Friday to find solutions for the NCDRC's e-filing problems.

It may be recalled that the petitioner in the previous hearing informed the court that it is a mandatory requirement to physically file the matters even after E-filing at NCDRC. Also, several state commissions weren't religiously following the E-filing procedures.
