SG: whether I am preparing for UPSC or NEET , Ill go stay there and prepare. This has been happening for many years, but still there is no alarming rise since last year. I wanted to say that the example of Sikar, Kota may not assist your lordships to arise at the correct conclusion, they appear sui-generis centres

    • 23 July 2024 6:07 AM GMT

SG: kindly allow me put across one point- there are several centres like Kota, Rajkot which are hubs of competitive exams. The word which is being used by the newspapers- 'Factory' is possibly taken from the web series 'Kota Factory'

SG: Kota in Rajasthan, Rajkot in Gujarat, Nammakal in TN ...seevral centres and hostels, the entire economy is centred on students, there are question papers given everyday, when the child sits for the actual examination actually it is their 200th examination

    • 23 July 2024 6:03 AM GMT

SG: i treat them as cities because they have centres. The lowest is Chattisgarh, Narayan Pur with 8.6%

SG : this is for the limited purpose to show that more number of people getting qualified doesn't mean they are getting admission

CJI: they're just above the cut-off

    • 23 July 2024 5:59 AM GMT

SG: it is city wise arranged in a descending order

      CJI: how many cities?

SG: 569. we have centres at some other countries also like Dubai, Muscat, Singapore

      CJI: Doha, Kuwait etc

    • 23 July 2024 5:58 AM GMT

SG: Gujarat- Bahvnagar total appeared were 5800, greater or equal to 164 is 4660. Therefore success ration for being declared qualified (not admission) is 80.34%

SG submits the city wise qualification ratio

    • 23 July 2024 5:58 AM GMT

SG: why this was required? years back in private medical colleges, there were some management quota seats, they used to be filled up by people who weren't even qualified, who got 50 marks or 70 marks, therefore this system was introduced that we will come out with the system of percentile

    • 23 July 2024 5:54 AM GMT

SG: but 12.5 lakh are qualified, seats are only 1 lakh 8 thousand.

    • 23 July 2024 5:54 AM GMT

CJI: it is always 50 percentile

SG : yes. Last year the cut of was 137, which indicates (1) this year number of students increased; (2) students were may more hardworking and (3) syllabus was sliced out

    • 23 July 2024 5:53 AM GMT

SG: so out of 24 lakhs students, 12.5 lakhs will be below 164 and 12.5 lakhs will be above 164. Those above 164 are qualified rest are not, they will not get the admission

    • 23 July 2024 5:53 AM GMT

SG: there has always been and also for this year, a system of coming to a percentile. Percentile is the figure after we get the result, it (result) is fed into the computer system and we request we want 50% percentile. so it gave us the figure of 164
