BREAKING| Plea Seeking SIT Probe Into Agnipath Protests Violence Mentioned Before Supreme Court

The petition filed seeking an SIT probe into the violence during the Agnipath protests was mentioned before the Supreme Court today.

Advocate Vishal Tiwari, the petitioner, mentioned the petition for urgent listing before a vacation bench comprising Justices CT Ravikumar and Sudhanshu Dhulia. Tiwari said that violent protests are going in the country.

"The matter must be placed before the Hon'ble CJI. There's a circular and only thereafter. He'll have to take a call. You just mention before the registry", Justice Ravikumar told Tiwari.

The PIL also seeks the setting up of an expert committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to examine the ratioanlity of the Agnipath recruitment scheme for armed forces.

Two other PILs have been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Agnipath scheme and seeking a stay of the implementation of the notification issued by the Ministry of Defence for recruitment of "Agniveers" into armed forces through this scheme.
