[Breaking] Karnataka HC Refuses To Stay Karnataka CET Scheduled To Start From Tomorrow [Courtroom Exchange]

Adv Anil Kumar submits that State entrance exams are held after JEE and Central Exams. Central Exams have been postponed.

The HC ask "how many containment zones are there in cities, taluks?"

State says it will find out.

"The state SOP is not known to students and even on web portal it is not uploaded", he submits.

Ponnanna refers to the order passed by Chief Justice on Tuesday, asking the State to reconsider the decision to hold #KCET in the light of spike in COVID-19 cases. Submits that State has not considered the changed circumstances.

AAG Dhyan Chinnappa says the State had successfully conducted SSLC exams with 8 lakh students.

Sr Adv Ponnanna says now the situation is different.

The bench asks "how many students according to you are in containment zone".

"I don't have exact figures", Ponnanna says.

HC says "We cannot make any inference"

In view of strict lockdown, persons residing in containment zones are not allowed to move out. Students will face difficulties : Ponnanna.

Aag dhyan chinnappa says that 1881 students are coming from outside the State and 1300 out of them are coming to Bangalore and rest to other parts of the State.

Sr Adv Ponnanna : All of us are aware that it is rapidly spreading. Condition is not conducive to hold exams where around 2 lakh students are going to be appearing.

Sr Adv Ponnanna : As on 13/05 (date of KCET notification), we had 1,100 cases in the entire state. As on July 23, as per cases have crossed 1 lakh in state. In Bengaluru city, we have around 50K cases.
