The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the PIL preferred by Advocate Harsh Ajay Singh seeking issuance of directions to the Center for reconsideration of Agnipah recruitment scheme could be listed only after it is placed before the Chief Justice of India.

While the vacation bench of Justices CT Ravikumar and Sudhanshu Dhulia was about to rise for lunch, teh counsel for the petitioner urged the bench for listing the petition which also sought for staying the implementation of the scheme.
"Writ Petition has been numbered and caveat has been served to the Union of India," the counsel submitted before the vacation bench.
"Just verify whether it was placed before the CJI?" said Justice Ravikumar.
"Yes it has been placed," replied the counsel.
"As per the circular, all such matters are to be placed before the CJI and if that's done then we can consider," the bench told the petitioner.
The plea stated that on completion of the four-year tenure in the prime of their youth, the Agniveers, would not be matured so as to retain self- discipline with the realization to become a better version of himself/herself both professionally as also personally.
As a result of a caveat filed by the Centre, the petitioner has also served the petition to the Union.
It may be noted that while Advocate Vishal Tiwari had sought listing of the PIL seeking SIT probe into the violence during Agnipath Protest, the vacation bench had said that "This matter will be placed before the CJI. The CJI will take a call."
Apart from the two PIL's that were mentioned today, a PIL challenging the Centre's "Agnipath" recruitment scheme for armed forces has also been filed in the Top Court by Advocate ML Sharma.
