Pegasus: Supreme Court Hearing On Plea Seeking SIT Probe-LIVE UPDATES

Notice has been issued pre admission ONLY to Union of India. The #Pegasus matter to be heard again after 10 days.

Court says it will also deliberate upon the course of action. 

CJI: We will discuss what needs to be done, if committee of experts needs to be made, or some other committee

CJI: We will see that. This is all stage of admission. We had thought a comprehensive reply will come but it was a limited reply. We will see, we will also think and consider what can be done.

Sibal: We don’t want them to give any information as to security of the State. He must reply if pegasus as a technology was used.

SG: Mehta: Court may consider letting us form a committee, and report can be placed before Court

Bench: We are thinking, we will issue notice

SG: I wish to make it clear, it is not my case that I don’t wish to divulge. Limited point is let me say that before a Committee of experts.

SG: For example, What if there is a terrorist organisation. And any government says pegasus wasn’t used I’ll modulate my device to a certain extent

Bench: What can be done is, We will issue a simple notice, let competent authority under rules take decision to what extent information is to be disclosed and we’ll see what is to be don

Bench to SG: We as a court and you as SG and lawyers as officers of court, none of us would like to compromise with security of this country or defence of nation, irrespective of prayer or no praye

Bench: Here the issue is different, there are people alleging hacking of their phones. In case of civilians also rules permit, but only on permission by competent authority
