Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has filed an application in the Supreme Court to revive a disposed-of petition which was filed earlier seeking bail.

On June 4, the Supreme Court had disposed of Sisodia's bail plea after taking on record the assurance given by the Solicitor General that the chargesheet/prosecution complaint in the liquor policy case would be filed on or before July 3, 2024. On that occasion, the Court also granted Sisodia liberty to revive the bail application after the filing of the chargesheet.

Today, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned Sisodia's application before Chief Justice of India for urgent listing citing the delay in trial.

"In Manish Sisodia matter, he has been in jail for 16 months. The court said the trial must conclude, it hasn't started. I filed the SLP, they gave liberty to revive after July 3rd. The Court gave liberty to list. It's a revival. The Court said just keep it in abeyance and revive it," Singhvi submitted.

CJI DY Chandrachud told Singhvi that he would look into the matter.

Sisodia is seeking bail in the cases filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Enforcement under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act respectively in relation to the alleged liquor policy scam.

Sisodia was first arrested by CBI and ED on February 26 and March 9 last year respectively.

He filed the Special Leave Petition against the Delhi High Court order dated May 21, rejecting the second bail plea moved by Sisodia. In October 2023, the Supreme Court, while dismissing Sisodia's bail application, had granted liberty to apply for bail afresh if there was delay in trial.
