    The Supreme Court will hear today at 10.30 AM its suo motu case taken over the rape and murder of a doctor in RG Kar Hospital at Kolkata.

    The Court has asked a status report from the CBI on the investigation.

    The West Bengal police also have been asked to give a report on the probe against vandalism at the hospital.

    During the previous hearing, the Court had questioned the West Bengal Government and the police over several lapses in the handling of the case and also in dealing with the vandalism of the hospital during a protest march on August 14.

    The Court directed the CISF to provide security to the RG Kar Medical College Hospital and hostel.

    The Court also formed a National Task Force to deal with systemic issues regarding the lack of safe conditions of work for medical professionals.

    A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear the matter.

      CJI: if we ask representatives to be part of the NTF, it becomes impossible to work. There are very senior women doctor in the NTF, they have worked for a very long time in the health care

      CJI: let them all return to work...we will pass some general order, pls rest assured that once doctors resume duties we will prevail upon authorities to not take adverse actions, how will public administrative structure run if they don't resume work

      Counsel : AIIMs Doctors in Nagpur, they are agitating, they are being marked absent, not being allowed in exams, some lenient view be taken

      CJI: how can we tell the administration to mark something which is not correct, ask them to first return to work, nobody will then take an action
