Things took an ugly turn in the much-awaited hearing in Bollywood actor and environmentalist Juhi Chawla's petition against the roll-out of 5G telecom services in the country, when the virtual hearing was interrupted twice by a fanboy singing songs from the actor's movie during the hearing - prompting the court to issue contempt notice on the man.
The virtual hearing before the Delhi High Court on Wednesday in the plea filed by Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla faced interruptions from the initial parts of the hearing itself, when a fan-viewer of the actor enquired on her whereabouts in the middle of the court hearing, asking, "Where is Juhi Ma'am, I can't see Juhi Ma'am."
While Justice JR Midha, who was hearing the case, initially asked the court staff to mute the concerned person, Sr. Adv. Deepak Khosla appearing for Chawla, attempted to salvage the situation, stating, "I hope these are not distractions from the Respondents."
With the fanboy persisting despite court warnings, the Court directed issuance of contempt proceedings against the man, saying, "Please identify and issue contempt notice. Contact Delhi Police IT Department. We will issue notice," said Justice Midha.
After the hearing it has come to be known that Chawla herself had posted links to the hearing, on her social media handles of Instagram and Twitter, inviting people to join in.
