    Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud today, while addressing the 32nd annual convocation of NLSIU, Bangalore, highlighted the importance of patience and self-belief that act as an anchor for the testing legal profession.

    No matter how much is the forced sense of urgency , you must approach life with patience.”

    “This is paced era where everything seems to be a do or situation and these early days of your legal career will be demanding. You may feel inadequate, insecure and isolated at times. Many of us experience this burn out. But remember, you are not alone in this journey.”

    “But remember to deal with obstacles you face - you must build a strong support network, spend time with your family and friends. Leading doesn't mean you're alone - though it may feel so at times.”

    Speaking from his personal experience, the CJI explained that when is facing with a vortex of conflict, he relies on self reflection and the inner voice which is principled on values of liberty , dignity and autonomy help him guide in such situations

    I was asked how to you deal with this vortex of conflict that comes to you in the SC?And I said that once you have heard different view points, then you retreat into yourself and that's when you shut out cacophony of voices”

    “Then you appeal to something within which is guided by the eternal values which are intended to espouse liberty, dignity and autonomy of the individua.l”

    The CJI encouraged the young graduates to trust their inner instincts and personal values when faced with unique challenges just as the North Star guides in uncharted waters.

    “I can tell you from personal experience the in the uncharted waters your North Star is your inner voice and your individuality . Do not underestimate the power of your inner voice and perspective”

    “As you embrace on your careers, take pride in your individuality, your personal experiences, values and passions are what will enable you to connect to people around you authentically”

    Attorney General for India R Venkataramani also spoke at the event, highlighting the need for young lawyers to balance between humanistic approach and increasingly embraced legal technology.

    He also discussed how visionary allegiance for maintaining a social and economic order will help young lawyers in searching for the right answers in their legal journey.

    The huge call for economic and social reordering waiting at our doors demands visionary allegiance. The inter search for the right answer must inform our commitment to this allegiance.”
