SG Mehta: We have approximately 750 million mobile internet users. And we add one new internet user every three seconds.

SG Mehta: Between 2018-2021, the Government of India identified 2,38,223 shell companies. And actions are taken. This is one of the vehicles through which unclean money passes.

SG Mehta: Meaning thereby, more money is available in official channels. I will not say that black money is completely eradicated. But we do what we can do. This was the first step. The second step was registration of shell companies.

SG Mehta: This is a part of this process. Our digital payment in India is seven times more than that of US and EU put together. It is three times that of China.

SG Mehta: Your lordships may not take this scheme as a standalone case or attempt in the direction of dealing with menace of black money. There are several steps taken. One of these is this scheme

SG Mehta: Having try many modes, the menace of black money wasn't dealt with because of systematic failures. So the present scheme is a deliberate attempt to ensure clean money coming through banking channels to political parties

SG Mehta: And also the scheme is to so far as possible, eradicate unclean money and black money in the elections.

SG Mehta: First, use of black money in politics in general- every country is grappling with it. Country specific issues are being dealt with by every country depending upon the circumstances. India is also grappling with this problem

SG Mehta: Every government did its bit to ensure that some methodology is adopted to eradicate black money from electoral process. My attempt is to show a bit of history on that
