CLAT 2019 Application Process To Begin From January 13: Here's All You Need To Know

Online applications for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), 2019 will begin from January 13 on https://clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in. Here is all you need to know about this year's exam:

Procedure for registration

1. The candidates are first required to register themselves at the CLAT-2019 website by using their personal mobile number and e-mail Id.
2. Upon registration, an OTP will be sent to the given mobile number for validation. Once your mobile number is validated, you can login using your mobile number and the password you provided at the time of registration.
3. The application form can then be filled.
4. No alteration/editing in the online application form can be done after successful submission/final submission of the form.
5. The candidate shall fill his/her preference order for all 21 NLUs at the time of online application itself. No change shall be allowed in the preference once the form is submitted by the candidate.
6. False information or any discrepancy in the application, examination or admission process would lead to cancellation of the provisional admission offered to the candidate with immediate effect without assigning any further reason. Further, the candidate shall stand disqualified from being considered for further admission to the NLUs by the CLAT Consortium Office.

Documents to be uploaded with the Online Application

Note: All documents and certificates need to be uploaded in pdf format. As for the originals, these will have to be submitted to the allotted University in the form and manner as specified by the respective universities at the time of admission.

1. Front facing passport size recent photograph with plain background.
2. Signature of the candidate.
3. Category certificate if you are applying under SC/ST/OBC category.
4. Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if the candidate is a person with a disability.
5. Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you come under the BPL category.
6. Relevant certificate for your respective State of Domicile.

Eligibility: UG Programme

1. There is no upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT 2019.
2. As regards minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (i.e. 10+2 or an equivalent examination), the candidates must have secured:
   (i)Forty-five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories.
   (ii)Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
3. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April, 2019 are also eligible to appear in CLAT-2019 examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
4. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course.
5. In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order:
   (i)Higher marks in the component /section on legal aptitude in the CLAT-2019 exam;
   (ii)Higher age;
   (iii)Computerised draw of lots.

Eligibility: PG Programme

• An LL.B Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of fifty five percent (55%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories and fifty percent (50%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
• Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2019 are also eligible to apply.
• No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT-2019.

• English including comprehension
• General Knowledge and Current Affairs

• Logical reasoning

Question paper pattern for UG Programme

1. Maximum marks - 200
2. Duration of the exam- 02:00 Hours
3. Multiple choice questions - 200 questions of one mark each
4. Negative marking- 0.25 mark for each wrong answer

Subject areas with weightage:

1. English including comprehension - 40 marks
2. General knowledge and current affairs - 50 marks
3. Elementary mathematics (Numerical ability) - 20 marks
4. Legal aptitude - 50 marks
5. Logical reasoning - 40 marks

Question paper pattern for PG Programme

1. Maximum marks - 150
2. Duration of the exam- 02:00 Hours
3. Multiple choice questions- 100 questions of one mark each
4. Subjective questions - 50 marks (2 essay type questions each of 25 marks)
5. Negative marking- 0.25 mark for each wrong answer

Syllabus:

• Constitutional Law- 40 marks
• Other law subjects such as contracts, torts, criminal law, international law, IPR and jurisprudence - 60 marks

Admission procedure

The admission to UG and PG programmes in participating universities under CLAT 2019 shall be completed through centralised online counselling conducted by the CLAT Consortium Office.

The basis of allotment of seats shall be 'merit-cum-preference', i.e., the CLAT Rank, the order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form and the category/categories selected by the candidate in the online application form and the number of seats and their division/break-up as available in each of the participating NLUz. Online counselling shall start after the declaration of CLAT 2019 results.
