Vacation Benches Will Hear Fresh Admission Matters, Hybrid Hearings Possible : CJI DY Chandrachud

In the last week of Supreme Court's working before the summer vacations begin, CJI DY Chandrachud informed the lawyers that the vacation benches will be taking up fresh admission matters and hybrid hearings will be permitted before the vacation benches for the convenience of the parties.

Making the announcement, the CJI said–

"In case someone wants to go and argue from somewhere more convenient, you're most welcome."

As per the CJI, more than 300 fresh matters, which could not have been taken up by the court, would be listed before the vacation benches of the Supreme Court during the summer break. He said–

"My brothers who are sitting in the vacation benches have sportingly agreed to hearing fresh matters in vacations."

The summer vacation for the Apex Court is commencing from Monday, May 22 to Sunday, July 2 2023.
