Singhvi: If a man, a CM, blows up a vehicle in the middle of elections he should be arrested. But is this a fair analogy?

Singhvi: Section 70 is a misplaced argument.

Singhvi: Am I seeking a ninth schedule exemption from arrest. The answer is no. He said terrorist and heinous crime.

This is totally inappropriate example. My learned friend denies. If you deny it, your lordships live streaming would show it. Is this your best defence Mr Raju?

Singhvi: It's turning PMLA on its head. Zero evidence of proceeds of crime.

Singhvi: My learned friend then say that scam surfaced long back. I'm asking myself that long back has two dates. 2022 early, and October 2023. That makes my point, why arrest in the middle of elections. It makes my point, not EDs point.

Scam of long back is being misutilized to create a non level playing field.

Singhvi: There is a finding in Manish Sisodia judgment about the same Rs. 100 crores that it's a matter of debate.

Singhvi: On cognizance, we had pointed as late as of January 2024, it is clear that ED stated that I am not the accused.

Singhvi: My question to myself is, if your lordships rejects bail to x and y, how is it of any relevance to any subsequent petition by z challenging the validity of arrest under section 19 of PMLA?

    • 3 April 2024 4:14 PM IST

Singhvi: Cognizance is pressed in. I'm amazed. It can be expected from a novice in criminal law like me but can't be expected from a veteran on the subject like Mr. Raju. What relevance does cognizance has on my arrest?
