The Supreme Court will hear today two petitions relating to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
One is a petition seeking Kejriwal's removal as the Chief Minister of Delhi because of his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the liquor policy case. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had dismissed the petition imposing a cost of Rs 50,000 on the petitioner.
The second petition is filed by Kejriwal himself challenging the criminal defamation proceedings against him over retweeting a video of YouTuber Dhruv Rathee about the BJP IT Cell. Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court refused to quash the proceedings. Earlier, the Supreme Court had stayed the proceedings.
Both the petitions are before the bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta.
