The Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud today (September 27) indicated that the appointment of the new judges of the Bombay High Court are likely to happen soon based on the recent recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium.

The bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice Manoj Misra was hearing an SLP seeking for early hearing of a PIL before the Bombay High Court. The Counsel for the Petitioner stressed that before the High Court, petitions would only get listed if they are mentioned before the bench and not otherwise.

On September 24, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of the following advocates as the Judges of the Bombay High Court.

    (i) Ms Nivedita Prakash Mehta,

    (ii) Shri Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar,
