SC Collegium Recommends Elevation Of 17 Advocates As Judges Of Allahabad HC; 1 Advocate As Meghalaya HC Judge
The Supreme Court collegium has recommended elevation of seventeen lawyers as Allahabad High Court judges, and another lawyer as a judge of Meghalaya High Court.
The collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice MB Lokur recommended the appointment of following lawyers as judges of Allahabad High Court:
The collegium had the names of thirty three candidates before it for its perusal. It however deferred the proposals for elevation of Advocates: (1) Shekhar Kumar Yadav, (2) Deepak Verma, (3) Gautam Chaudhary, (4) Dinesh Pathak, (5) Manish Kumar, (6) Samit Gopal, (7) Manish Goyal, and (8) Alok Kumar Yadav.
Besides, complaints received against a few recommendees were dismissed as lacking any merit.
In a separation resolution, the collegium recommended the appointment of Advocate Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew as a judge of the Meghalaya High Court.
