Historian and author Mr. Ramchandra Guha informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that he is stepping down from the four-member, Court-appointed administrative panel managing the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
As per reports, Mr. Guha has cited personal reasons and has handed over his resignation to the Committee’s Chairman, Mr. Vinod Rai. The Bench, comprising Justice M.M. Shantanagoudar and Justice Deepak Gupta has, however, directed him to file a plea in the registry and posted the case for hearing on July 14, after the court re-opens post summer vacations. The matter will then come before the Special Bench hearing the BCCI case comprising Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.M. Khanwilkar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud.
The Apex Court had, in January this year, appointed the four member panel headed by former CAG Vinod Rai to administer the day to day affairs of the BCCI after the removal of its President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke for non-implementation of Lodha panel reforms. The Committee also includes CEO of IDFC bank, Mr. Vikram Limaye, and former Indian Women’s cricket captain, Ms. Diana Eduljee.
Ms. Eduljee has, however, been kept in the dark regarding the resignation. “I don’t know whether this is true or not. His phone is switched off and I haven’t been able to speak to him. The three of us (in the CoA) are not aware about this,” she was quoted as saying.
