Brother of the slain Youth Akali Dal (YAD) leader Vicky Middukhera has moved to the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking adequate protection in view of the alleged threat perception from the gang members. Vicky's elder brother Ajaypal Singh Middukhera has moved this plea.
The bench of Justice Karamjit Singh has asked the State of Punjab and Punjab Police to look into representation (submitted earlier by Ajay Pal Sigh) and assess threat perception and if the situation so warrants to do the needful in accordance with law and to submit its report in this regard by the next date of hearing (August 18, 2022).
It may be noted that the 33-year-old Akali leader Vicky was shot dead on August 7 last year in the parking lot of Sector 71 Market, Mohali allegedly by the sharpshooters of a gang based out of Punjab (Bambiha group). Vicky's elder brother, Ajay Pal Singh is the sole eyewitness to the incident.
This plea assumes significance as Ajay Pal Singh Middukhera has alleged that Punjab Singer Sidhu Moosewala (killed on May 29 allegedly by Lawrence Bishnoi Gang) and his manager Shagundeep (allegedly in Australia) were involved in the murder of Vicky.
Allegedly, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala as they wanted to avenge the death of Vikramjit Singh Middukhera. Vicky was a college friend of Lawrence Bishnoi.
Soon after the murder of Moosewala, Lawrence Bishnoi's gang member, Goldy Brar (presently in Canada) had, in a Facebook post, claimed the responsibility for the incident alleging that Moosewala was involved in Vicky's murder. Moosewala was shot at least 30 times from an automatic assault rifle while he was driving his SUV.
It may be noted that the instant plea by Ajay Pal Singh was moved days before the murder of Sidhu Moosewala wherein he had alleged that the Gangsters of Bambiha group (allegedly involved in the murder of Vicky and a rival gang of Lawrence Bishnoi gang) might eliminate him as he the sole eyewitness to the incident of Vicky's murder.
Significantly, the plea avers that Moosewala and his manager Shagundeep had surfaced in the murder of Vicky and therefore, the plea adds, as soon as the Punjab Police got to know about the involvement of Shagundeep and Moosewala, they, instead of arresting Shagundeep Singh, let him fly away to Australia.
Senior Advocate Bipan Ghai and Advocate Manpreet Singh Dhaliwal appeared for the petitioner.
