    The Union Ministry of Law and Justice, by an office memorandum dated 13th September, has notified that the title of Assistant Solicitor General of India, the Senior Central Standing Counsel in High Courts, is redesignated as "Deputy Solicitor General of India" to avoid confusion and doubt arising between Additional Solicitor General of India and Assistant Solicitor General of India, as the abbreviation used for both the titles are the same (ASG).

    According to the memorandum, the abbreviation for the new designation would be DSGI and is directed to be strictly adhered to. 

    The redesignation has been approved by the competent authorities, and they will continue to be governed by terms and conditions.
