Ten Additional Judges Of Allahabad High Court Made Permanent

The Central Government on Tuesday (23rd March) appointed 10 Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court as permanent Judges of the High Court.

They are:

Justice Ali Zamin

Justice Vipin Chandra Dixit

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav

Justice Ravi Nath Tilhari

Justice Deepak Verma

Justice Gautam Chowdhary

Justice Shamim Ahmed

Justice Dinesh Pathak

Justice Manish Kumar, and

Justice Samit Gopal

The Notification of the Central Government in this regard reads,

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri Justices 1) Ali Zamin, 2) Vipin Chandra Dixit, 3) Shekhar Kumar Yadav, 4) Ravi Nath Tilhari, 5) Deepak Verma, 6) Gautam Chowdhary, 7) Shamim Ahmed, 8) Dinesh Pathak, 9) Manish Kumar, and 10) Samit Gopal, Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court, to be Judges of the Allahabad High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.."

About Judges

1) Justice Ali Zamin

Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

2) Justice Vipin Chandra Dixit

Graduated in Arts from Awadh University in the year 1982 and Law from Allahabad University, Allahabad in the year 1986. Enrolled as an Advocate on Aug 28, 1986. Practiced in Civil Side, but gradually specialized in Motor Accident Cases. Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

3) Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav

Graduated in Law from Allahabad University in the year 1988, enrolled as an Advocate on Sep 8, 1990. Practiced at Allahabad High Court in Civil and Constitutional Side. Worked as Additional Government Advocate and Standing Counsel for the State. Worked as Additional Chief Standing Counsel, Senior Counsel of Union of India and Senior Counsel of Railway till elevation. Took oath as an Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

4) Justice Ravi Nath Tilhari

Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

5) Justice Deepak Verma

Graduated in Law from Allahabad University in the year 1989. Enrolled as an Advocate on April 20, 1992. Practiced in Civil, revenue, and criminal side at Allahabad High Court. Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

6) Justice Gautam Chowdhary

Enrolled as an Advocate on Mar 06, 1993, in Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh. Practiced in Civil, Labour Law, Constitutional, Revenue and Service Matter at High Court of Judicature at Allahabad and was appointed as Council of Zila panchayat, Mirzapur (1995-2000); Nagar panchayat, Ahiraura, Mirzapur (1998-2004); State of Uttar Pradesh (Brief Holder) (1998-2000); Indian Railway Council (2000-2011) for CAT and Ruhelkhand University, Bareilly (2009-2019). Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

7) Justice Shamim Ahmed

Graduated in Arts from Allahabad University and in Law from Allahabad University. Enrolled as an advocate on Apr 17, 1993 in Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh. Practiced in Civil, Constitutional, Service, Labour, Company Law, and Criminal side at Allahabad High Court. Worked as Central Government Counsel in the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad from Aug 4, 2004, till elevation on Dec 12, 2019.

8) Justice Dinesh Pathak

Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

9) Justice Manish Kumar

Graduated in Arts from Lucknow University. Graduated in Law from Campus Law Centre, North Campus, Delhi University. Enrolled as an Advocate on Oct 28, 1995 in Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh. Practiced in Civil, Constitutional, and Service matter at High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench, Lucknow. Designated as a Senior Advocate in May, 2019 and elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

10) Justice Samit Gopal

Graduated in Law from Lucknow University. Enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1996. Practiced at Allahabad High Court since the date of enrollment. Designated as Senior Advocate by the Allahabad High Court in May 2019. Elevated as Additional Judge on Dec 12, 2019.

It may be noted that yesterday, the Central Government had notified the appointment of 7 judicial officers as Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court. Also, the Central Government had, in November 2020, appointed 28 Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court as permanent Judges of the High Court.
