Supreme Court E-committee Conducts Digital Accessibility Training For Visually Challenged Court Staff Of District & Taluk Courts

The E-committee of the Supreme Court of India conducted a two-day Digital Accessibility Training for visually challenged court staff from District and Taluk courts from across the Court on 15th and 16th May, at IIPA, New Delhi.
Making the digital infrastructure of the Indian judicial system more accessible to persons with disabilities is one of the core components of the e-Committee of the Supreme Court of India, executed under the guidance of the Chief Justice of India, Dr Justice D.Y. Chandrachud.
The two-day training was held in the Hands-on training model where each participant was given Laptop loaded with accessibility software like NVDA, Jaws etc. The special educators from NIVH & NAB took the handholding training in using various assistive technologies, including the accessible reading of court documents, accessible documentation & note-making in a digital work environment; creating Digital Accessible format; using Internet and judgement searching through the eSCR portal, judgement search portal using the screenreaders; smartphone-based assistive technologies, and input in regional languages.
The court staff working in the District and Taluk courts of Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Madras, Punjab & Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Telangana were trained in the 3rd batch of the digital accessibility training programme.
Director General of IIPA S. N. Tripathi distributed the certificates to the participants for completing the participants on the completion of the training programme.
e-Committee Member (HR), R Arulmozhiselvi coordinated the programme with Dr Surabhi Pandey, IIPA, assisted by the special educators Rajender Singh Negi from NIEPVD and Inderpreet Singh (NAB).
