Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Transfer Of Justice P. Sam Koshy To Telangana High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Justice DY Chandrachud has recommended the transfer of Justice P. Sam Koshy to the Telangana High Court.

Justice Koshy is currently a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The resolution passed on July 06 said that Justice Koshy had opted for his transfer out of the Chhattisgarh High Court and thus, acceding to his request, the Collegium on July 05 proposed his transfer to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Mr Justice Koshy has, however, requested for a transfer to any High Court other than the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, the resolution said.

It thus added: “Mr Justice Koshy has volunteered for a transfer out of Chhattisgarh. On reconsideration of the recommendation made by this Collegium yesterday, the Collegium resolves to recommend that he be transferred to the High Court for the State of Telangana, instead of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.”

The statement further said that the Collegium was recommending Justice Koshy’s transfer to o Telangana High Court bearing in mind that it would enrich the composition of the High Court.

Justice Koshy was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on September 16, 2013. He is presently the fourth senior-most Judge of the said High Court.
