Announcing the Delhi Government's decision, CM Kejriwal wrote on Twitter:
"Delhi govt approves the appointment of Justice Shabihul Hasnain (Retd) as the new Chairman of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC). Providing cheap and uninterrupted power supply is one of the key priority areas for Del Govt. My best wishes to him for a successful stint"

Justice Hasnain is a law graduate in law from Lucknow University and he joined the Bar in the year 1984. He primarily practiced on civil side and in Constitutional and service matters. In the year 2008, he took oath as an Additional Judge of Allahabad High Court and was made a permanent judge in the year April 2010.
He continued to serve in that capacity till his retirement in January, 2020.
