In a case pertaining to Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle, the Rajasthan High Court has recently issued notice on a public interest litigation seeking directions to the State government to provide medicines, fees and medical assistance of the veterinary doctors.

Placing reliance on various news reports, the plea states that 4.2 lakhs cattle are infected in Rajasthan and nearly 22,000 animals, mainly cows, have died.

Thus, it seeks directions to the respondents to provide isolation places for the infected cattle as well as proper cremation of the cattle that died due to the aforesaid disease.

The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice Vinod Kumar Bharwani was hearing a PIL filed by Rajasthan based Advocate - Sunil Kumar Singh. Earlier, a similar plea was filed by one Mahesh Jhalani on which the notices were issued by the court last month. The court has now clubbed both the petitions.

It has been alleged that the respondents have failed to provide isolation place for the infected cattle. The plea further adds that the situation is so worse that the infected cattle and uninfected cattle are at the same place in various shelter places.

The petitioner Sunil Kumar Singh appeared in person before the court.
