The Rajasthan High Court has cautioned all the Judicial Officers and the Court staff of the High Court as well as the Subordinate Courts/ Tribunals/ Special Courts, to act "responsibly" over social media.

"Judicial Officers and the Court staff are forwarding, liking, disliking and commenting upon the posts which are not only scandalous and derogatory but sensational also. They express opinion in social media on the matters to which they have no concern whatsoever," the High Court noted.

Therefore, a Standing Order was issued on Monday, whereby the High Court has asked all the above mentioned officers and staff to "desist" from forwarding, liking, disliking and/or commenting upon any posts which are against Government policies/ High Court Administration.

They have also been asked not to forward any official communication on social media, except when it is required by them as a part of bonafide discharge of their official duty.

The Order further states that the Judicial Officers and Court staff should not access social media during office hours, as it affects the working of the court and also diminishes the dignity and reputation of the entire system.

The High Court has cautioned that violation of any of the abovementioned stipulations tantamounts to "misconduct" under the provisions of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1971 and will attract suitable disciplinary action.
