After the government asked Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved to stop advertising about Ayurvedic medicines that allegedly cure Covid-19, until the Ayush Ministry examines the medicines, a complaint has been filed against the Company owners before a court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
The complaint has been filed by social activist Tamanna Hashmi under Sections 420 (Cheating), 120B (Criminal Conspiracy), 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC.
The complaint alleges that Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev (Founder) and Acharya Balkrishna (MD, CEO), through their false claims about the medicine, conspired to cheat the Union Ministry of AYUSH as well as the entire nation.
How Patanjali's Unilateral Declaration Of Discovering COVID-19 Cure Violates Law?
Yesterday, Patanjali Ayurved had launched 'Coronil and Swasari', claiming that the medicines showed "100% favourable results" for curing Corona virus during clinical trials.
"We are launching COVID medicines Coronil and Swasari today. We conducted two trials of these, first clinical controlled study, which took place in Delhi, Ahmedabad, among many other cities. Under this 280 patients were included and 100 per cent of those recovered. We were able to control Corona and its complications in this. After this the all-important clinical control trial was conducted," Yoga Guru Ramdev said at the press conference.
Later in the day, the Ministry of AYUSH clarified that that facts of the claim and details of the stated scientific study are not known to it. The government further asked the Company to stop making such claims and to submit the alleged medicines for government verification.
Citing the Ministry's press note, Hashmi has claimed that the Government had no knowledge of the said medicine and the company had betrayed the entire country.
"The accused intentionally took such steps that may be a threat to the life/ may prove fatal for lakhs of people," the complaint states.
