The students of NUJS, Kolkata from the batches of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 have written to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud requesting the organisation of a convocation ceremony for the four batches of LLB and LLM graduates of the university.

CJI Chandrachud serves as the Chancellor of the University.

In their letter, the students have highlighted that the last convocation ceremony was held at WBNUJS in October 2022, for the batches of 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Before that, the 13th Convocation was held in February 2019, and since then, there have been no convocation ceremonies for the subsequent batches, causing great concern among graduating batches.

"It must be noted that other National Law Universities (including NLSIU-Bangalore, NALSAR-Hyderabad, NLU-Delhi, NLIU-Bhopal, NLU-Jodhpur, etc.) have been regularly conducting their convocation ceremonies, which further highlights the urgency of addressing this issue at WBNUJS. The prolonged delay in scheduling the convocation ceremonies is detrimental to the reputation and prestige of our esteemed university," the letter reads.
