    In the National Lok Adalat held on March 12, for the first time cases pending before Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority, Real Estate Appellate Authority cases were taken up for disposal in Lok Adalat and a total of 183 cases came to be disposed off and Rs. 8 Crores is paid as compensation.

    As per the press release issued by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, a total of 3,67,575, cases (pending and pre-litigation cases) were disposed of by a total bench of 989 benches.

    Other key highlights of the Lok Adalat were:

    1: A total of 5,582 cases, pertaining to Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission were taken up and disposed of in the Lok Adalat.

    2: More than 90 couples were reunited due to the conciliation at Mega Lok Adalat. A total of 32 couples in Mysuru, 29 couples in Bengaluru and many more who had filed divorce petition, restitution of conjugal rights applications got compromised their cases before Lok-Adalat and all of them have re-united.

    3: Totally 359 employees of KSRTC/BMTC were reinstated after successful conciliation in the Lok Adalat. In Bengaluru itself, a total 324 employees were reinstated.

    4: In a Motor Vehicle Accident Claims case, pending on the file of CCH-5 Bengaluru, after the intervention of Mega Lok Adalat, the insurance company agreed to pay compensation of Rs.1,75,00,000 to the claimants. In a case settled at Bagalkote a compensation was awarded of Rs. 81,00,000 and in Soraba Taluk of Shivamogga for Rs. 70,00,000.

    5: The Eight Commercial Courts at Bengaluru settled a total of 126 Commercial Suits and settlement amount is Rs.62 crores.

    The highlight of the National Lok Adalat was the 53-year old partition suit in Mysuru and 26 years old mortgage suit, which was settled in the Lok Adalat.

    Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasti, also the Patron-in-Chief, KSLSA, Justice B. Veerappa, Executive Chairman, KSLSA and Justice P.S. Dinesh Kumar, Chairman, HCLSC, KSLSA have appreciated the efforts put in by the stakeholders for the success of the Lok Adalat.

    They expressed their gratitude for the cooperation extended by the Judicial Officers, Advocates, litigant public, insurance company officials, bank officials, Government Officials and also press and media.
