National Lok Adalat In Bihar: Over 99,000 Cases Settled, Rs 390 Crore In Claims Resolved

Under the directive of the National Legal Services Authority and the esteemed guidance of Justice K. Vinod Chandran, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court cum Patron-in-Chief, and Justice Ashutosh Kumar, JAD-1 cum Executive Chairman of the Bihar State Legal Services Authority, a significant "National Lok Adalat" addressing pre-litigation and pending cases took place on March 9, 2024.

This event was not confined to the Patna High Court but extended across all districts and sub-divisional courts of the State of Bihar.

The National Lok Adalat meticulously addressed a range of cases including those under the NI Act u/s 138, Bank Recovery Cases, Labour Disputes, Electricity Bills, Land Acquisition Cases, Water Bills, Service matters relating to pay and allowances, and retiral benefits, Revenue Cases, along with Other Civil Cases such as Rent disputes, Easementary Rights, Specific Performance Suits, Criminal Compoundable Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, and additional cases.

According to data released by the Bihar State Legal Services Authorities, an impressive total of 30,534 pending court cases were effectively disposed of during the proceedings.

The settlements reached in these cases amounted to Rs. 1,86,86,44,032/-. Additionally, a substantial number of 69,224 pre-litigation cases were also resolved, with settlements totaling Rs. 2,10,97,23,038/-.

In a remarkable display of efficacy, the total number of cases disposed of, both pre and post-litigation, on March 9, 2024, stood at an impressive 99,758. Furthermore, the collective settlement amount for these cases tallied to a significant Rs. 3,97,83,67,070/-.
