Second National Lok Adalat: Telangana Settles 12 Lakh Cases And Awards Over Rs 200 Crores, Achieves "Highest Disposal Percentage"

In the recently concluded second National Lok Adalat, the state of Telangana settled 12 lakh cases and awarded compensation of over Rs 200 crore, becoming the state with the highest disposal percentage.

Ch.Panchakshari, Member Secretary, Telangana State Legal Services Authority, while speaking to LiveLaw, informed that the state has achieved the "highest disposal percentage" in the National Lok Adalat held on September 28, having a "total disposal percentage of 98.75%", with pre-litigation disposal coming up to 99.30% and pending cases at 98.05%.

Notably a press note released by the Telangana State Legal Services Authority states that in the National Lok Adalat, a total of 12,37,349 cases across various categories were settled, and compensation of Rs 224 crores was awarded to the beneficiaries.

It states that the Lok Adalat was conducted under guidance and leadership of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe who is also the patron-in-chief of Telangana State Legal Services Authority, Executive Chairman Justice Sujoy Paul and Chairman of the Legal Services Committee Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili. The note states that the state legal services authority coordinated with all district legal services authorities, high court legal services committee and other stakeholders to organize the national lok adalat.
