[Rise In COVID Cases] Madras High Court To Have Hybrid Hearings From April 10

In a notification issued by the Registrar General in charge M Jothiraman, it was informed that the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to reduce the footfall inside the court premises.

Earlier, the court had decided to have hybrid hearings on all Fridays with an objective of providing the benefit and option of virtual access to High Courts to all.

The notification issued today reads as under:

In view of the reports citing the gradual rise in COVID cases, as ordered, the Madras High Court, as a precautionary measure to reduce the footfalls in the court halls and in the court campus, resorts to hybrid hearing of cases on a regular/daily basis (without restricting to Fridays and the case to case request basis as in vogue now) both at the Principal Seat at Chennai and at Madurai bench, from Monday 10th April, 2023 until further orders.

The court also asked the bar and the litigants to utilise the virtual/hybrid facility to the best extent possible. The court also requested litigants to make use of the E-filing facility for all jurisdictions without limiting it to anticipatory bail matters.
