The Karnataka High Court was informed by BJP Member of Parliament, Naleen Kumar Kateel, that the trial court has accepted the B-report and closed the proceedings initiated against him for allegedly intimidating a police inspector Maruthi Nayak, in the year 2017.

Advocate H Pavana Chandra Shetty appearing for the petitioner who had sought quashing of the FIR registered against him under section 353 (deterring public servant from discharging duty), of the Indian Penal Code, submitted that the trial Court by order dated 27.09.2021 has accepted 'B' report and closed the proceedings.

The petitioner filed a memo in which it was stated that, "In the above matter, respondent No.2. Investigation Agency filed a B-report in Crime No.0278/2017 before the 2nd Addl. Civil Judge and JMFC, Mangalore. Accordingly, the learned trial Court passed the following order: After service of the notice of the complainant neither appeared nor filed objection to the B-report submitted by I.A. Hence, objection to the B-report is taken as not filed and B-report filed by the I.O. is accepted. Accordingly, the case is closed."

Following which it was prayed for taking the said memo on record and dropping the petition in light of the order passed by the trial court.

Justice Sunil Dutt Yadav took on record the memo and said, "In light of the orders passed by the trial Court, petition is dismissed as calling for no further orders."

The FIR was registered against Kateel, who was allegedly caught on camera purportedly threatening the police. In the video he was seen intimidating Kadri police station inspector Maruthi Nayak, with shutting down Mangaluru, after several BJP leaders, and hundreds of workers were detained.

Kateel was seen telling the police official in the video that a bandh would be called if cases were registered against BJP workers who breached barricades during their "Mangaluru Chalo" bike rally.
