Justice RV Malimath Appointed As Acting CJ At Uttarakhand HC; Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai To Take Over As Acting CJ Of Sikkim HC [Read Notifications]

The Centre has notified the appointment of Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath, senior-most Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 28th July, 2020.
He will replace Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, who is set to retire on July 27.
As per the High Court website, Justice Malimath began his law practice at the Karnataka High Court in 1987. He practiced mainly in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Labour and Service matters.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on February 18, 2008 and was made permanent on February 17, 2010.
He was transferred to High Court of Uttarakhand in March, 2020.
The Government has also notified the appointment of Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, senior-most Judge of the Sikkim High Court, as the Acting Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from July 15, 2020 till August 6, 2020 during the absence of Chief Justice AK Goswami, who shall be on leave.
Justice Rai was the first lady from Sikkim to be appointed as a Judge of the Sikkim High Court, on April 15, 2015.
