Justice Hima Kohli was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court on Thursday. Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Sounderarajan administered the oath at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad.
With Justice Kohli's appointment, Telangana High Court has got its first woman Chief Justice. She is the lone woman Chief Justice in the country at present out of 25 High Courts.
It was on December 31 that the Union Ministry of Law and Justice notified the appointment of Justice Kohli, then a judge of Delhi High Court, as the CJ of Telangana High Court, accepting the recommendation made by the Supreme Court collegium.
Chief Justice Hima Kohli replaces Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chouhan, who has been transferred as the CJ of Uttarakhand High Court.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Deputy CM Mahmood Ali, and state ministers attended the ceremony. The event was also attended by some judges of the High Court and also the Advocate General, BS Prasad. The Telangana High Court registrar read out the warrant of appointment.
Justice Hima Kohli got enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi.
She was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Delhi on May 29, 2006 and took oath as a permanent Judge on 29.08.2007. She was appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee of the Delhi Judicial Academy from 11.3.2020.
