5 Additional Judges of Calcutta HC Made Permanent; 1 Additional Judge Appointed [Read Notification]

The Centre, on Wednesday, notified the appointment of 5 Additional Judges of the Calcutta High Court as permanent judges.

They are:

1. Justice Rajasekhar Mantha
2. Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya
3. Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya
4. Justice Shekhar B. Saraf
5. Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj

Their appointment will take effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended them to be made permanent vide resolution dated July 31.

By the same resolution, the Collegium had also resolved to renew the term of Additional Judge, Justice Protik Prakash Banerjee for another six months w.e.f. September 21. Accordingly, the Central Government issued a separate notification appointing Justice Banerjee as an additional judge for six months.
