COVID Management- Advocate General Will Respond To Each And Every Grievances Within Two Weeks: Jammu And Kashmir High Court

Dealing with a suo moto case registered for protecting the life of the citizens by ensuring adequate medical help both in terms of medical advice and life-supporting material amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Jammu & Kashmir High Court on Thursday (May 20) directed the Lawyers to submit their suggestion to the Advocate General.

The order has been passed by a Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sanjay Dhar further directing AG to respond to each and every grievance and suggestion within two weeks and if necessary, to take up those matters with the State Government and try to resolve them as early as possible.

On Thursday,  several grievances and suggestions were made by the lawyers, and thus after considering the various aspects of the matter, the Court said,

"We do not deem it proper to narrate all those grievances and suggestions and instead direct all the lawyers to submit their grievances and suggestions through learned Amicus Curiae to the learned Advocate General..."

The Advocate General was further directed to respond to the various applications pending in the instant petition and on which response was earlier directed to be submitted and he was given the liberty to file a comprehensive report as to the action/steps so far taken by the Government in relation to the pandemic.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on June 3, 2021.

In related news, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court recently sought the response of UT of J&K on a plea filed seeking financial assistance, medical, and life insurance for lawyers who are facing grave financial hardship on account of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the course of the earlier hearing, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had directed the UT administration to ensure that lawyers in the age group of above 45 years are vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus, within a week.

The Court has further ordered that lawyers in the age group 18-45 should be given priority and should be vaccinated within two weeks after registering on the COWIN app.

The order has been passed by a Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sanjay Dhar in the suo moto case registered for protecting life of the citizens by ensuring adequate medical help both in terms of medical advice and life-supporting material amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

While noting that the government is taking due steps for controlling the pandemic and to provide full medical support, the Bench opined that much more is required to be done.
