Calling it an unfortunate issue, the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj / Superintendent of Police, Jaunpur to produce the girl who had an intercaste marriage and was abducted from the chamber of the advocate forcefully.
The Bench of Justice Umesh Kumar was essentially dealing with the protection plea filed by a Girl who recently married a man from the OBC community and feared for her life and liberty at the hands of her family members.
Essentially, in the previous hearing, the family members had alleged that the man from the OBC community (husband of the girl) had abducted the girl, pursuant to this, the Court decided to hear the girl's version and ordered her presence before the Court.
Now, on Wednesday (April 20), the Court was informed by the counsel for the petitioners that in connivance with respondent no.4 (father of the girl), more than 20 miscreants surrounded his chambers and forcefully abducted the girl from his chamber.

Under the circumstances, the Counsel submitted that the petitioners could not appear before the Court. In view of this, the Court observed thus:

"It is very surprising and unfortunate that in front of the High Court, miscreants abducted the girl from the chamber of the advocate forcefully. Petitioner no.2 is at liberty to move an appropriate application before the appropriate authority for needful action."

Hence, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj / Superintendent of Police, Jaunpur was directed to look into the matter on a priority basis and produce the girl before the Court on the next date of listing.

The Court has now posted the matter for further hearing as fresh on May 17, 2022, and on the next date of listing, the Court has directed the petitioners to remain present before the Court.

Advocates Mohammad Khalid and Pawan Kumar Yadav appeared for the petitioners.
